ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) on Friday requested Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s Justice Muhammad Asif to transfer the petitions for suspension of the sentence of Imaan Mazari Advocate and Hadi Ali Chatha to Justice Azam Khan’s court.

However, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) also granted bail to the both accused in other two cases.

Justice Muhammad Asif heard the petitions for early fixing of the application for suspension of the sentence of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweets case in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Lawyer Riasat Ali Azad said that in the last hearing, the court had said that the case would be fixed soon. Faisal Siddiqui is our lawyer and he has to come from Karachi, give us a date.

Justice Muhammad Asif remarked that cases are filed as per the policy, once the hearing of the cases is over, then we will tell you the date. Riasat Ali Azad said that there is no need for a record in the suspension of sentence case, our case is that the trial court cannot change the decision according to the law, it is a firm request to give a date before Eid.

Justice Muhammad Asif remarked that the sentence is ten years, if it was less than seven years, we would have seen it.

Riasat Ali Azad said that we are not saying to set the appeal, we are only requesting to set the case for sentence suspension. Later, the government requested to transfer the case to the court of Justice Azam Khan. The Assistant Attorney General said that our request is to transfer the case to the court of Justice Azam Khan, such a case has been under hearing in his court before.

Lawyer Riasat Ali Azad said that no such case is pending in another court, our appeal is being heard in the same court from the first day, adding that we have full faith in the bench, just give a date before Eid.

On the other hand, the Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad granted bail to Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in two more cases. Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain granted bail in two cases against surety bonds of five thousand rupees bonds. One case is about a fight outside the High Court and the other is about a protest outside the Press Club.
