ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) A constitutional petition has been filed before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday seeking orders for Adiala Jail administration to get signatures of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in power of attorney.

Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, who serves as the authorized counsel for the PTI founder, filed the petition in the IHC. The petitioner appeared before the High Court as the party's legal representative.

The constitutional plea Names the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, the Inspector General of Prisons Punjab, and the Superintendent of Police Saddar Circle Rawalpindi as respondents.

The petition alleges negligence on the part of jail authorities and accuses them of obstructing legal processes.

It contends that the PTI founder is facing hundreds of cases, and his legal representation risks being severely affected.

According to Advocate Khalid Yousaf, a signed power of attorney is mandatory for filing an appeal before the Supreme Court. The plea argues that the denial of signatures constitutes a violation of Articles 4, 9, 10A, 14, and 25 of the Constitution.

The petitioner has requested the court to order the immediate facilitation of signatures on the required documents and their provision to the legal team. The plea also seeks a directive granting the counsel unhindered access to the prisoner.
