IHC issues notices to Jail Superintendent, IG Prisons Punjab regarding PTI Founder Signature on Legal Documents

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail and the Inspector General of Prisons Punjab in a case concerning the refusal to obtain signatures from the PTI founder on a power of attorney and other legal documents.

A single bench of Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro issued a written judgment from the previous hearing and directed the respondents to submit a detailed report by May 25. The court was hearing a petition filed by Khaled Yousaf Chaudhry, counsel for the PTI founder.

According to the petitioner, under Rule 92 of the Jail Rules 1978, the Superintendent of Jail is bound to facilitate the signing of legal documents.

The court issued notices to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, the Inspector General of Prisons Punjab, and the SP Police Saddar Rawalpindi, seeking their responses. The bench directed the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to submit a detailed report and adjourned further proceedings until May 25.
