IGP vows continued action against child labour across Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem on Friday reaffirmed Punjab Police's commitment to supporting all relevant institutions in efforts to eliminate child labour and protect children's rights across the province.

In his message on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, the IGP described child labour as a serious social issue that adversely affects children's fundamental rights, education and health.

He said that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a Safe Punjab, police was continuing full cooperation with all relevant departments and institutions to eradicate child labour and ensure the protection of children.

Abdul Kareem said coordination with the Labour Department, Social Welfare Department and the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) was being further strengthened to effectively combat child labour, prevent exploitation and improve rehabilitation measures for affected children.

He said joint operations with relevant institutions had been enhanced to rescue and protect children subjected to begging, forced labour and violence. Punjab Police, he added, was providing full security to CP&WB teams during rescue operations across the province to ensure the safe recovery and rehabilitation of children.

The IGP expressed the resolve that Punjab Police would continue taking comprehensive measures, in collaboration with relevant institutions, to eliminate child labour and safeguard the rights and welfare of children.
