IG Islamabad orders faster crackdown on illegal weapons, crime

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2026) A high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Monday reviewed progress on key policing tasks and directed officers to intensify operations against criminal elements, with a renewed focus on the ongoing Weapons-Free Islamabad Campaign.

An ICT Police spokesperson told APP that the meeting was attended by DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, and other senior police officers.

The participants reviewed progress on previously assigned tasks, ongoing operations against criminal elements and measures to improve the quality of investigations across the Federal capital.

The IGP directed officers to further accelerate the crackdown against individuals involved in illegal possession of weapons under the "Weapons-Free Islamabad Campaign" to ensure effective enforcement and enhance public safety.
