ICT Police secure justice in Sana Yousaf, Hamza Khan murder cases

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police secured major convictions in two high-profile murder cases as a court awarded death sentences and fines to the accused involved in the killings of social media influencer Sana Yousaf and Senate employee Hamza Khan.

An official told APP on Wednesday that the court awarded a death sentence and a fine to the accused Umar Hayat in the Sana Yousaf murder case and former SP Arif Hussain Shah in the Hamza Khan murder case.

He said the court also sentenced two co-accused in the Hamza Khan murder case to life imprisonment along with fines.

DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said Islamabad Police had traced both murder cases and arrested the accused through modern investigation techniques and human intelligence.

He said strong evidence, professional investigation and effective prosecution by Islamabad Police played a key role in securing convictions from the court.

The DIG said Islamabad Police remained committed to ensuring justice for citizens and eliminating serious crimes through professional policing and effective investigation.
