ICT Police put Insp Umar Hayat firing case suspect in handcuffs

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police put the suspect in handcuffs involved in the firing incident that injured Inspector Umar Hayat.

An official told APP on Monday that the accused had opened fire on the police officer due to a personal grudge and went into hiding after the incident.

IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi took notice of the incident and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Following these directions, Islamabad Police constituted seven special teams to trace the accused.

The teams worked day and night and, using human intelligence, digital surveillance and cellular technology, successfully traced and apprehended the suspect within a short period.

The official said that further investigation into the case was underway.
