ICT Police establishes AI-powered Mohafiz Command Centre for Muharram security

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has established an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered Mohafiz Command Centre to strengthen security monitoring and public facilitation during Muharram-ul-Haram.

An official told APP on Monday that the command centre had been set up to enhance surveillance, improve coordination and ensure timely response to incidents during Muharram processions and religious gatherings across the Federal capital.

SHO Online Women Police Station, Sub-Inspector Maryam Nasir, briefed female volunteers of Imambargah Al-Sadiq on the functioning of the AI-based system and its role in supporting security arrangements.

The volunteers were provided necessary training regarding the use of the Mohafiz platform, communication procedures and reporting mechanisms to facilitate effective coordination during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The briefing also highlighted the importance of community participation and the role of female volunteers in assisting law enforcement agencies in maintaining a peaceful environment during religious events.

The official said the AI-powered command centre would help monitor activities, streamline information sharing and support prompt decision-making during emergencies.
