ICT Police come under attack in Koral operation, one dacoit killed, accomplice injured

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police came under armed attack during a recovery operation in Koral police station limits, leaving one dacoit dead and another injured after firing by their own accomplices.

An official told APP on Sunday that the incident occurred when a police team was taking an arrested accused for the recovery of weapons and stolen valuables used in robbery incidents.

According to police, arrested suspects, Ahmed Shehzad and Muneeb-ur-Rehman, were involved in a murder during a robbery case in Ghouri Town and were being taken to different locations on their identification for the recovery of weapons and looted items.

The official said accomplices of the arrested suspects, who were already lying in wait, suddenly opened indiscriminate fire on the police party in an attempt to free them.

The attackers used automatic weapons; however, police personnel remained safe due to bulletproof jackets and other protective measures.

During the exchange of fire, the accused Ahmed Shehzad was killed after being hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices, while Muneeb-ur-Rehman sustained injuries.

The injured accused was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was stated to be under treatment.

Police said initial investigation revealed that the accused were involved in robbery, street crime and other heinous offences in various areas of the Federal capital.

A search operation and snap checking were launched in different areas to arrest the fleeing accomplices.

According to police sources, the dead and injured accused were members of an active dacoit gang operating in Islamabad and adjoining areas for a long period.
