ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration held an important meeting on dengue prevention in the Federal capital, where officials reviewed anti-dengue operations carried out across all urban and rural zones.

The meeting also examined hotspot inspections conducted between May 15 and May 21, while authorities directed field teams to speed up action against dengue larvae and ensure strict implementation of safety measures across the city.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad and attended by officials from the health department, district administration and other relevant institutions. During the session, authorities reviewed the overall dengue situation in the capital and discussed measures being taken in different areas to prevent the spread of the disease.

Officials gave zone-wise briefings on anti-dengue activities and informed the meeting about inspections carried out at identified hotspots in both urban and rural parts of Islamabad. Authorities also reviewed reports related to indoor vector surveillance, including data collected from different zones regarding the presence of mosquito larvae inside homes and buildings.

The meeting was informed about ongoing field operations conducted by teams working under the District Health Office and other departments involved in dengue prevention activities. He instructed assistant commissioners and field officers to increase inspection activities and ensure that teams remain active in hotspot areas.

Officials were told to take action without discrimination wherever dengue larvae are found. The Deputy Commissioner said negligence in anti-dengue measures would not be tolerated and directed authorities to proceed against people or elements contributing to the spread of dengue in the federal capital.

The administration also appealed to citizens to follow dengue-related standard operating procedures and cooperate with government teams during inspections and awareness campaigns. Residents were advised to keep their surroundings clean, avoid stagnant water and ensure proper disposal of waste to help reduce mosquito breeding.

During the briefing, officials highlighted that hotspot inspections remained a key part of the anti-dengue campaign, especially during changing weather conditions that increase the risk of mosquito growth. Surveillance teams were asked to continue monitoring residential areas, commercial locations and open spaces to identify possible breeding sites.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that preventive measures and timely action were necessary to control dengue cases before the peak season. He directed all concerned institutions to remain alert and continue field monitoring on a daily basis.

The meeting concluded with instructions for all departments to further strengthen anti-dengue campaigns, improve public awareness efforts and maintain coordination among institutions to control the spread of dengue in Islamabad.
