Chasing a challenging target of 214, the Kingsmen reached required total for loss of six wickets with three balls remaining, powered by Usman’s explosive century
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 22nd, 2026) Hyderabad Kingsmen registered their fourth consecutive victory in HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 after defeating Multan Sultans by four wickets at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a challenging target of 214, the Kingsmen reached the required total for the loss of six wickets with three balls remaining, powered by Usman’s explosive century.
The chase began on a shaky note as Kingsmen lost Maaz Sadaqat for seven runs in the second over with only 13 runs on the board.
The early setback continued when Saim Ayub managed just five runs before falling, while Kusal Perera was dismissed for a golden duck, leaving the Kingsmen struggling at 48-3.
Usman then walked in at No.5 and completely changed the momentum of the match with aggressive strokeplay.
He shared a crucial 123-run partnership with captain Marnus Labuschagne, as both batters completed half-centuries and steadied the innings.
Labuschagne scored a solid 61 off 41 balls before being dismissed by Peter Siddle in the 16th over.
Usman, however, continued his attacking approach and brought up a remarkable century off 47 deliveries on the final ball of the 17th over.
His innings included 10 sixes and five fours, making him the standout performer of the match.
Multan Sultans briefly fought back in the 18th over when Siddle removed both Glenn Maxwell and Usman, but the Kingsmen remained in control.
After Usman’s dismissal, they needed 26 runs from 12 balls, which Hassan Khan helped chase down with a quickfire cameo, securing victory with three balls to spare.
For Multan Sultans, Peter Siddle and Mohammad Ismail took three wickets each, while others went wicketless.
Usman was named Player of the Match for his match-winning century.
Earlier, Multan Sultans posted a strong total of 213-7 after being asked to bat first. Their openers Smith and Farhan put on a dominant 132-run partnership, both scoring half-centuries.
Farhan scored 66 off 43 balls before being dismissed by Glenn Maxwell.
Smith went on to complete a brilliant century, scoring 106 off 50 deliveries, including 12 fours and six sixes.
However, after his dismissal, Multan lost momentum and finished at 213-7. Kingsmen bowlers, led by Akif Javed with three wickets, managed to restrict the lower order in the final overs, preventing further damage.
