ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed serious concern that the Indian government’s land and settlement policies in Jammu and Kashmir contravene established United Nations (UN) resolutions on the region’s disputed

status.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed regret that India was disregarding the Kashmiris’ right to determine their political future in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and was instead pursuing measures aimed at altering the demographic composition of the territory.

He further stated that Jammu and Kashmir had been divided into two Union Territories against the wishes of its people. The spokesperson added that residents were being deprived of their democratic rights under the BJP government and described the move as a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the core issue of the Kashmir dispute.

APHC said that Kashmir is not an internal matter of India but an international issue as recognized by UN resolutions that needs to be resolved in its historical perspective.

The spokesman said the internationally recognized status of the Kashmir dispute is an established fact and there is no doubt about it. The August 5, 2019, illegal moves can’t change the fact that Jammu and Kashmir is not India’s internal matter but an international issue, he added.

The statement said India’s hegemonic mindset is stopping it from accepting that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and New Delhi’s August 5, 2019, actions are in contravention of UN resolutions.

APHC lamented that India was completely disregarding the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future as per UN resolutions and its plan to change the demographic structure of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is in flagrant violation of UN resolutions.

For 78 years, he added, Kashmiris have waited in vain for justice as India continues to trample their rights and perpetuate brutal repression in the occupied territory.

The spokesman said that the Modi regime’s apartheid policies have led to unprecedented atrocities, with systematic human rights violations committed with impunity by Indian troops. Despite the bloodshed and oppression, Kashmiris remain resolute, refusing to surrender to Indian military might.

He deplored the international community’s silence, which has only emboldened India to escalate its crackdown.

APHC said India must be pressured to honor international commitments on Kashmir, adding it is high time for the UN to accept its responsibility and help resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute according to its own resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
