Applicants who pass through this skilled residence pathway will have a right to permanently reside, work and study in New Zealand. The visa also enables the holders to sponsor their immediate family comprising of the spouses and children below 24 years.
Application fee starts at NZD 6,450, based on the type and processing needs. Upon renewal of the visa after two years, it is also open to the holder to travel internationally at his or her own convenience, with freedom to in and out of New Zealand.
Eligibility Requirements

- Age must be under 55 years
- Must pass health and character assessments
- Must demonstrate English language proficiency
- Must hold a full-time skilled job offer from an approved New Zealand employer
The job offer must meet the following conditions:
- At least 30 hours of work per week
- Must be permanent or fixed-term for at least 12 months
- Alternatively, part of a continuous employment contract
Salary requirements are also defined based on skill level:
- ANZSCO Level 1–3: Minimum NZD 35 per hour
- ANZSCO Level 4–5: Minimum NZD 52.50 per hour
Points-Based System
To qualify for residency, applicants must secure a minimum of 6 points under New Zealand’s immigration scoring system.
Points are awarded based on:
- Educational qualifications
- Income level in New Zealand
- Occupational registration or licensing
