‘Hotel Transylvania 5’ film set for theatrical release this year

Sony Pictures Animation co-presidents Kristine Belson and Damien de Froberville spoke about the franchise's legacy in a joint statement.

The Drac Pack is returning to theaters because Sony Pictures Animation has confirmed a fifth series of  “Hotel Transylvania film”, titled “The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania,” with a release date of October 8.

Sony Pictures will distribute the film across North America. Amazon MGM Studios will handle its release internationally. Jennifer Kluska and Alan Hawkins will direct the new installment. Lawrence Jonas will produce the film.

Genndy Tartakovsky, who created the original franchise, returns as executive producer alongside Michelle Murdocca, helping keep the series’ tone consistent.

They added that the new film aims to keep that same mix of heart and humor while still delivering surprises for longtime fans.

Belson and Damien de Froberville also said they were excited to work with Amazon MGM Studios to bring the characters back to the big screen for families worldwide.

The new film picks up with Dracula settling into retirement, handing control of the hotel to his daughter, Mavis. Her transition into the role does not stay peaceful for long. Strange, unexplained events begin unsettling the hotel, forcing the “Drac Pack” to investigate, the group sets out on a new adventure to solve the mystery behind the haunting.
