HEC Islamabad grants formal approval to SBBU for launching PhD program

NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad has achieved another significant milestone in the field of education. Owing to the visionary leadership and dedicated efforts of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Madad Ali Shah, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad has granted formal approval to launch a PhD program in the Department of Information Technology at the university. This approval will mark a major enhancement in the institution’s academic and research activities.

For the effective initiation of PhD program, additional funding, modern laboratory equipment, and more faculty members will be required. In this regard, efforts are underway to seek full support from Sindh Higher Education Commission.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Madad Ali Shah congratulated the faculty members of the Information Technology department, including Dr. Meraj Nabi Bhatti, Dr. Asif Wagan, and Dr. Marina Mari. VC said that the university’s Primary objective is to promote quality higher education and research, particularly in the field of Information Technology. He said that, under the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the introduction of doctoral programs at the university will not only provide students with advanced academic and research opportunities but will also help strengthen the standard of higher education for youth of the region and across Sindh.
