PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Hospital is facing serious operational challenges due to a sharp decline
in blood donations and mounting financial constraints, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
Founder of the foundation, Ejaz Ali Khan, said that a growing number of children suffering from thalassemia are
visiting the hospital daily along with their parents to seek support for blood transfusions and costly medicines.
He added that patients from remote and far-flung districts are also being facilitated at the hospital, further
increasing the burden on limited resources.
Despite the challenges, he said, the Foundation continues to provide medical care and blood transfusion
services to registered patients.
He appealed to the government, philanthropists and the general public to extend support through Zakat and
donations to help sustain life-saving services for affected children.
Ejaz Ali Khan also emphasized the need for preventive measures, including effective implementation of premarital thalassemia screening and public awareness to reduce the incidence of the disease and ease the long-term
suffering of families.
