Govt to buttress digital platforms connecting youth with mother tongue

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) The Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has said the provincial government is supporting digital platforms which aim to reconnect the youth of Sindh with their mother language.

He said this while addressing the conference titled 'technology for multilingual learning', organized at Sindhi Language Authority here on Saturday evening.

The minister observed that technology had made learning of multiple languages including mother tongues easier.

"Online education has made language learning not only easier but more effective," he underlined.

Shah apprised that cultural exchange programs had been initiated with many countries, adding that Sindhi language had been made a part of such programs.

He suggested that the linguists should not only make efforts for promotion and greater usage of Sindhi but they should also work on the language's evolution.

The famous playwright Madad Ali Sindhi observed that over the thousands of years of its existence Sindh and Sindhi language had survived numerous attacks and invasions but the province and its language outlasted it.

He stressed on the need for strict enforcement of the law requiring teaching of Sindhi language in the educational institutions.

Amar Fayaz Buriro of Institute of Language Engineering said it is a proud moment to share that Sindhi had already been introduced in the domain of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"We have succeeded in making sure that Sindhi matches steps with the modern world," he said.

Dr Phul Meghwadh said besides Sindhi other local languages of Sindh like those spoken by a section of the Hindu community should also be protected from extinction. Chairman SLA Dr Sher Mehrani, Dr Makhmur Bukhari, Dr Bakhtawar Jalil Abro and Prof Hasamuddin Meerani also spoke.
