Govt Sadiq College Women University 4th convocation held

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The 4th Convocation of Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) Bahawalpur was held in a grand, dignified, and enthusiastic atmosphere. Governor Punjab and Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

According to an official press release issued here on Saturday, during the convocation, degrees were awarded to a total of 3,248 graduates, while 63 students received gold medals and 62 students were awarded silver medals for outstanding academic performance. In addition, three students were awarded PhD degrees.

The ceremony included graduates from the four-year BS programs for sessions 2018–2022 and 2019–2023, the two-year BS programs for sessions 2020–2022 and 2021–2023, as well as graduates from MA, MSc, MS, and MCS programs for sessions 2020–2022 and 2021–2023.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Punjab and Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan congratulated the successful students and said that educated women play a vital role in the development of the country and nation. He stated that Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur is rendering remarkable services in the fields of education and research and has become an important institution for providing quality education to women in South Punjab.

The Governor encouraged students to utilize their abilities positively for the progress and development of the country. He also appreciated the efforts of the university administration, teachers, and parents and congratulated them on the successful organization of the convocation.

Shazia Anjum, highlighted the university’s overall performance, academic progress, and administrative achievements in her address. She stated that the university is taking effective measures to equip students with quality education, research opportunities, modern technology, and practical skills.

She further said that the university has made remarkable progress in promoting teaching and research activities, establishing modern laboratories, providing digital facilities, strengthening international linkages, ensuring student welfare, and encouraging extracurricular activities. She added that Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur is playing a key role in promoting higher education for women in South Punjab and continues its efforts to help students achieve distinction at national and international levels.

Among those present at the event were former Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Bhatti, Member of Provincial Assembly, Saadia Bilal, Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Bilal Mahmood Malik, Nawazish Ali Pirzada, Dr. Munir Azhar Chaudhry, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Shagufta Jabeen, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Saddar Hamza Ehtesham, along with teachers and parents. A large number of students, parents, faculty members, officials, distinguished guests, and people from various walks of life attended the ceremony.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest distributed medals and certificates among the high-achieving students, while successful graduates and their families expressed joy and happiness on the occasion.
