PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to enhance the visual appearance of buildings and commercial plazas along GT Road as part of efforts to promote urban beautification and tourism.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Local Government and Higher education Minister Meena Khan Afridi, said an official statement issued on Thursday.

Officials of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) briefed the meeting on proposed measures to improve the façades of structures located along the busy corridor, with an emphasis on creating a visually cohesive and attractive urban landscape.

The meeting decided that, in the first phase, implementation would begin from Phase III Chowk, where design improvements, coordinated colour schemes and structural frontage enhancements would be introduced.

To ensure stakeholder participation, the minister directed that a consultative session be convened under the supervision of the deputy commissioner, inviting local traders, building owners and other stakeholders before the execution of the plan.

Afridi said that improving the aesthetic outlook of commercial areas would not only create a pleasanet environment for residents but also help attract visitors and stimulate economic activity.

He emphasised that all development work must adhere to approved design standards and carefully planned colour schemes to maintain uniformity.

Officials were instructed to initiate practical steps at the earliest, with the project envisioned as a model for future urban regeneration initiatives in other parts of the provincial capital.
