Earlier, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Eidul Azha will be observed on May 27, following the sighting of the Zilhaj moon. The decision was made during a meeting held at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) office in Karachi.

It was decided that 1st Zilhaj 1447 AH would fall on May 18, while Eid ul Adha would be observed on May 27.

Eid ul Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah before being divinely stopped and provided with a ram instead.

The religious festival is observed with Eid prayers, family gatherings, and acts of charity. Muslims also perform the ritual sacrifice of animals, distributing meat among relatives, friends, and those in need.
