Governor Saleem hails Ombudsman office for speedy, inexpensive justice

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab is playing a vital role in ensuring speedy and inexpensive justice for the people.

During a meeting with the with Ombudsman Punjab Ayesha Hamid at the Governor’s House here on Friday, he said delayed justice tantamount to denial of justice.

Ombudsman Punjab Ayesha Hamid presented Annual Report 2025 and briefed the Punjab Governor on performance, staff training initiatives, steps towards automation and capacity building.

Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that when he assumed office, appeals from Ombudsman office had been pending in the Governor’s Office for the past three years. He added that those pending appeals were disposed of on a priority basis to provide timely relief to the public.

He emphasized that the provision of prompt justice to complainants is indispensable and assured full cooperation from his office in resolving public grievances. “The institution of Ombudsman Punjab is playing an important role in providing quick and affordable justice to the people,” he said.

Ombudsman Punjab Ayesha Hamid informed the Punjab Governor that the institution received double the number of complaints in 2025 compared to the previous year, adding that immediate relief was provided to complainants through prompt disposal of cases.

The Ombudsman also highlighted efforts to modernize the institution through digitalization and professional training of staff members.
