Governor Kundi urges PM Shehbaz to ensure free movement of wheat to KP

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday urged Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to ensure the immediate free movement of wheat across provinces and provide relief to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Governor on X, said Article 151(1) of the Constitution guarantees free and fair trade throughout the country and stressed that its full implementation was essential.

He said ensuring unrestricted movement of wheat between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was both a constitutional and economic requirement.

Governor Kundi expressed concern over what he termed artificial restrictions on inter-provincial transportation of wheat, saying such barriers weakened constitutional guarantees and encouraged hoarding and profiteering.

He added that hoarding and profiteering further contributed to inflation and increased hardships for the common people.
