Governor invites Uzbek investors to explore opportunities in Sindh

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Governor of Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has invited Uzbek investors to explore attractive investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, stating that vast potential exists in Dhabeji Special Economic Zone as well as in the textile, agriculture, manufacturing, logistics and energy sectors.

He expressed these views while meeting an Uzbek business delegation led by Governor of Navoi Region, Normat Tursanov at the Governor House here Saturday.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev, Chairman Businessmen Group Muhammad Zubair Motiwala and Sohail Moten were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the Governor of Navoi Region congratulated the Governor Sindh on assuming office and extended best wishes. He also invited him to visit Navoi Region, particularly Tashkent, which was accepted by the Governor Sindh.

The Governor of Sindh stated that the government is ensuring full facilitation for investors in economic zones. He emphasized that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and highlighted the need to enhance trade links between Navoi and Karachi.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

It was also noted that flights from Uzbekistan to Lahore and Islamabad are operational, and there was a desire to initiate direct flights to Karachi as well.

The Governor of Navoi Region highlighted that the region offers attractive historical sites for cultural tourism and stressed the importance of promoting cultural exchange programs, business forums and joint ventures.

Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev stated that Uzbek businessmen are importing pharmaceutical, surgical, sports, textile, and leather products from Pakistan. He added that there is strong demand in Uzbekistan for Pakistani livestock, particularly sheep and goats, as well as fruits. He further noted that over 3,000 Pakistani students are currently studying in various universities in Uzbekistan, and that Uzbekistan’s annual trade has recorded a 7 percent increase over the past four years.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan agreed to facilitate the business community further in order to enhance bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
