Governor distributes laptops among female students under PM Youth Laptop Scheme

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Thursday distributed laptops among female students under Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) and thanked the PM for providing laptops to students.

He said that we have increased the budget of all public sector universities to 8 billion for improvement of quality education and wider interest of students future.

He said this while addressing the participants of the laptop distribution ceremony organized by Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) under the Prime Minister Pakistan Youth Laptop Scheme.

The laptop distribution program was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, Mir Asim Kurd Gelu, Parliamentary Secretary Zareen Khan Magsi, Vice Chancellor Women University Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Prime Minister of Pakistan’s Focal Person Chaudhry Naeem Karim, Secretary Higher Education Saleh Baloch and Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Abdul Nasir Dotani along with a large number of faculty members and students.

Addressing the participants, the Governor said that while ensuring stability from the initial crises, we resolved all the problems being faced at the university level, now it is the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor of each university and his team to deliver results and perform better.

He said that it is a pleasure that under our supervision all public sector universities have seen an increase in both ranking and scoring, it is a matter of pride that the Women University has now crossed the score of 80 percent which is a very encouraging milestone.

He also thanked to Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan for providing laptops to the students of the Women University.

The Governor said that focus should be on modern skills development, now Women University should introduce diploma and IT courses to equip students with modern skills as per the market requirements, which they need to get jobs quickly so that they could become economically independent.

He said that parents have put their trust in Women University, they are sending their daughters with great hope, now it is the responsibility of the university to provide high-quality education to meet the expectations of parents.

Jaffar Khan Mandokhel said that we are entering an era of artificial intelligence and robotic technology where for the first time in history, the relationship between man and pen and paper is ending forever.

He said that today, the definition of being educated has gone far beyond the simple ability to read and write one’s name, nowadays, a truly educated person is measured not only by a degree but by digital literacy.

“It is as if digital literacy is the real measure of modern education and it is your ability to use technology effectively”, he said and added that in this fast-paced era of digital information technology, access to all the academic and research materials available online is a basic need.

He said that now you have opportunities to do research, online business and enlighten your mind with the light of science and philosophy, especially for those intelligent students who could not afford such resources earlier.

The Governor maintained that this laptop is not only a gift but also a proof of confidence in your ability, students should make full use of these laptops, utilize them to expand your knowledge, collaborate with their classmates and turn your dreams into reality.

He noted that the laptops served as a catalyst for growth, telling students at the Women’s University that their academic and digital advancement was essential for a "bright future" for the entire region.

Governor Mandokhel said that laptops are actually a key to creating new educational possibilities and employment opportunities for students, thousands of golden opportunities and facilities are now just a button click away from you, so take advantage of the millions of books available online, raise your mental level and now engage with philosophical ideas that were once beyond the reach of students.
