Governor, CM receive Prince Rahim Aga Khan; discuss welfare projects in KP

CHITRAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Prince Rahim Aga Khan was accorded a warm reception on his arrival in Chitral by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, parliamentarians and senior government officials on Sunday.

Children dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets to Prince Rahim Aga Khan at Chitral Airport, where local cultural traditions were prominently showcased during the ceremony. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the visiting dignitary on his arrival.

Prince Aga Khan later held meetings with the Governor and Chief Minister during which matters relating to development, welfare, and investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came under discussion. According to Officials, Aga Khan arrived in Pakistan on May 20 on a week-long visit. KP Governor and CM later saw off Prince Rahim Aga Khan at Chitral Airport.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the departure of the dignitary, the governor said detailed discussions were held with the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community regarding ongoing and future projects of the Aga Khan Foundation in the province.

He said both sides exchanged views on cooperation in the sectors of health, education, culture, and tourism, adding that Prince Rahim Aga Khan had expressed interest in expanding the foundation’s initiatives in KP.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said discussions were also held regarding investment opportunities in the province, particularly in natural resources and tourism.

He said the establishment of an Aga Khan Hospital and University in Peshawar also came under discussion.

The Chief Minister added that Prince Rahim Aga Khan assured the provincial leadership of expanding the network of his welfare institutions in KP
