Global network discussed at Arid University's alumni meeting

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) Vice Chancellor Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), Professor Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman, chaired an important meeting to discuss strengthening engagement with alumni and establishing a global network of graduates.

The meeting was attended by the Director Financial Assistance and University Advancement, Director Quality Enhancement Cell, and representatives from all faculties, institutes, academic departments, and relevant administrative offices.

Addressing the participants, the vice chancellor said alumni were a valuable asset and strong ambassadors of any institution. He said effective engagement with graduates not only enhanced the university’s reputation but also created opportunities for mentorship, training, and employment for current students.

The meeting decided that each faculty, institute, and department would nominate a focal person to maintain contact with alumni, compile graduate records, and ensure their participation in various academic and networking activities.

It was further agreed to establish a central digital alumni database and portal, along with the creation of an alumni scholarship fund for deserving students.

Participants also decided that departments would organise annual alumni dinners, reunions, seminars, or networking events to strengthen links between former and current students and promote the exchange of experiences.

Highlighting the importance of overseas graduates, the vice chancellor directed departments to identify alumni residing abroad and establish country-wise alumni groups or chapters to enhance the university’s global outreach and representation.

He also instructed the Director Financial Assistance and relevant offices to utilise modern digital tools, including social media platforms, email newsletters, and comprehensive databases, to strengthen alumni connectivity.
