SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) A high-level meeting at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) has paved the way for the establishment of a business Incubation Center in Sialkot, aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly among women,here on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor(VC),Shazia Bashir and attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Pakistan as well as representatives of the National Incubation Center Sialkot.
Key participants included Muhammad Umar Akram of Ignite National Technology Fund, NIC Sialkot Project Director Farrukh Khan and Chief Advisor Jawad Azfar.
Discussions focused on the center's roadmap,including startup support,faculty training and employment opportunities for students.
The initiative also envisages provision of grants and mentorship to emerging entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion,VC termed the initiative aligned with the vision of Prime Minister(PM) Shehbaz Sharif a step towards strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
She said the facility would enable students to transform ideas into viable businesses, with a particular focus on empowering female students.
It was agreed that GCWUS would serve as a feeder platform for the incubation center,supporting women-led start-ups. The plan also includes awareness sessions, talent hunts, workshops and boot camps to foster a start-up culture.
The initiative was expected to enhance collaboration between academia and industry while promoting innovation and economic growth in the region.
