GCWUS enhances cooperation in agriculture with other organizations

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Department of Economics, Government College Women University Sialkot, (GCWUS),

the Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics, and The AgEcon Frontiers signed an

important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to news release issued here on Friday, the purpose of collaboration was to promote

agricultural economics, food security, policy research, sustainable development, and

academia-industry linkages in order to bridge the gap between research, policymaking,

and practical implementation.

The ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences,

Prof Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics,

Prof Dr. Asghar Ali, renowned economist Dr. Khalid Bashir, Director of External Linkages

Dr. Muhammad Umar Farrukh, ADAC Sialkot Dr. Ali Tahir, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, Dr. Faisal Munir,

On this occasion, the speakers stated that in the modern era, subjects such as agricultural

economics, food security, and policy research hold fundamental importance for national

development. They emphasized that strong connections between universities, research institutions,

and policy platforms were the need of hour so that young researchers and students could be

linked with research, innovation, and practical fields.

During the ceremony, a commitment was expressed to organize joint seminars, research

projects, policy dialogues, training programs, and academic activities in the future so that

research can be effectively connected with society and policymaking.

The participants described this collaboration as a positive, far-reaching, and welcome step

toward knowledge, research, agricultural development, and strengthening of the national economy.
