GCUF starts tree plantation, VC calls for collective action against environmental challenges

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) kicked off the spring tree plantation campaign here on Saturday.

GCUF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling at New Campus of the university.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Amin, deans, directors, heads of academic departments, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the plantation drive.

Chairman Estate Care New Campus Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Iqbal briefed the Vice Chancellor about ongoing and proposed projects related to the development and beautification of grounds, lawns and green areas of the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam described tree plantation as a pressing need in the face of climate change and environmental degradation.

He urged faculty members and students to take personal responsibility by planting at least one tree each and ensuring its proper care to help address environmental challenges.
