GB Govt, Markazi Anjuman Imamia Reach Accord; Protest Called Off After Assurances on Judicial Commission and Compensation

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Talks between the Gilgit-Baltistan government and leaders of the Markazi Anjuman Imamia concluded successfully early this morning at the Central Imamia Mosque in Gilgit. Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Muhammad Yar along with cabinet members met with Agha Rahat Hussaini and other council representatives to discuss the recent violence and casualties.

The parties agreed to form a judicial commission, ensure state-funded medical treatment for the injured, and accept compensation demands for loss of life.

Following these assurances, the protest was called off and families consented to proceed with the burial of the deceased.
