FTO holds awareness session on taxpayers' rights

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) The Regional Advisor of the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) in Sargodha, Shaukat Mahmood, conducted an awareness session at the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry for members of the Kinnow and Jewelers Associations. The session focused on taxpayers’ rights under the FTO Ordinance and was attended by key business leaders, exporters, and traders.

Mahmood explained the role of the FTO as an independent body overseeing maladministration by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He highlighted common issues faced by taxpayers, including unjustified tax demands, illegal bank account attachments, delayed refunds, and discriminatory practices by tax officials.

He assured participants that complaints would be resolved within 45 days free of charge and outlined the process for filing complaints through Form “A” available online or via WhatsApp. Informational materials on taxpayers’ rights were distributed, and the FTO internship program was appreciated.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants discussed their concerns and sought guidance on tax-related issues.
