Friend arrested as Kohat Police crack blind murder case, recover cash and rifle

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Kohat Police have claimed to have solved a blind murder case within days of the recovery of an unidentified body, arresting the victim's friend who allegedly confessed to killing him over money, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, the body of an unidentified man was found in the Farangi Talab area on June 18. Taking immediate notice, District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi constituted a special investigation team headed by SP Saddar Ihsan Shah, with DSP Gumbat Sajjad Haider, SHO Gumbat Ayub Janan and other investigators, who employed modern scientific techniques and human intelligence to trace the suspect.

During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Hashim, alias "Lala Jee." After his son, Awais, lodged a formal murder report, investigators established that the victim had travelled to Farangi Talab with his friend, Adil, a resident of Kinder in Gumbat, in a rented black vehicle bearing Islamabad registration number PB-002.

Police said the victim had recently sold his Mehran car for Rs445,000 and was carrying an M4 rifle along with a substantial amount of cash.

Police alleged that the accused confessed to murdering his friend out of greed before fleeing with the victim's M4 rifle and approximately Rs400,000 in cash. Acting on the suspect's disclosure, investigators recovered the stolen rifle and the cash. Police said further legal proceedings are underway, while the allegations remain subject to judicial determination and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
