Founding VC of Sindh Agriculture University Abdul Qadir Ansari laid to rest

Prof Dr Abdul Qadir Ansari, the founding and first Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University(SAU), Tandojam and a renowned educationist of the country, was laid to rest at Tando Yousif graveyard after funeral prayers were offered in Memon Nagar, Qasimabad

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Prof Dr Abdul Qadir Ansari, the founding and first Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University(SAU), Tandojam and a renowned educationist of the country, was laid to rest at Tando Yousif graveyard after funeral prayers were offered in Memon Nagar, Qasimabad.

According to the SAU spokesperson, a large number of academicians, government officials, students and social personalities attended the funeral prayers including Engr Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal, DHO Health Pir Ghulam Hussain Shah, Prof Dr Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Prof Dr Aijaz Wasan, Prof Ali Gohar Rajpar, Dr Imdad Laghari, Gulsher Lochi, Dr R.B. Vistro and Ghulam Murtaza Chandio. Faculty members and students from University of Sindh and Sindh Agriculture University also participated in the funeral.

Meanwhile, the teachers’ association of Sindh Agriculture University (SAUTA) organised a condolence and prayer gathering at its office for the departed soul. SAUTA president Dr Fahad Nazeer Khoso, Dr Javed Gadahi, Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Khushk, Dr Sohail Otho and other teachers prayed for the eternal peace and high ranks of the deceased.

The condolence gathering is continuing at Memon Nagar, where the deceased’s son, Zain Ansari, Additional Secretary of the Local Government Department, along with other family members, is receiving condolences.

Dr Ansari was regarded as one of Pakistan’s distinguished educationists, scientists and academic administrators. Besides serving as the founding Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University, he also held key positions including Vice Chancellor of University of Sindh Jamshoro, chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Islamabad, chairman of the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, chairman of the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, chairman of the Pakistan library Club and rector of Al-Khair University.

He remained associated with several scientific and research organizations including Pakistan Science Foundation, National Science Council, Agricultural Research Council and the Chemical Society of Pakistan. He also presented research papers at various international conferences and seminars, while his work on agriculture, microbiology and food crops was also published in international scientific journals.
