Former Sindh University VC Mazhar Siddiqui laid to rest in Karachi

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, former provincial and Federal secretary and eminent scholar Mazhar ul Haque Siddiqui, who passed away in Karachi on Thursday, was laid to rest at the DHA Phase-8 Graveyard on Friday.

The spokesperson of Sindh University Nadir Ali Mugheri told that the funeral prayer and burial were attended by incumbent Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari, former VC Professor (Emeritus) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Dr Shuhabuddin Memon, faculty members, retired civil servants, scholars, students and a large number of admirers and well-wishers of the deceased.

Dr Mari, along with other dignitaries, participated in the funeral prayer of the late Siddiqui and remained present until the burial. After the interment, he laid a floral wreath on the grave and joined a collective fatiha for the departed soul.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mari said, “Mazhar ul Haque Siddiqui was not merely an administrator; he was an institution in himself whose wisdom and integrity guided generations.”

He added that his contributions to higher education, governance and intellectual life will continue to inspire youth and the University of Sindh will always remain proud of his legacy.
