ISLAMABAD: Former senator Taj Afridi was killed in a road accident on Motorway M-1 near Colonel Sher Khan Interchange on Friday, according to motorway police.

Police said the vehicle carrying the former senator met with an accident while traveling from Islamabad to Peshawar. The crash also left his driver injured.

Authorities stated that initial reports suggest the accident may have been caused by a mechanical fault in the vehicle, though investigations are underway to determine the exact cause.

Emergency responders shifted the injured driver to a nearby medical facility, while the body of the former senator was handed over to the family.
