Former peace committee member shot dead in Swat

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) A former member of the Peace Committee and local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants in the Seigram area of Kabal tehsil in district Swat, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident took place when unknown gunmen opened fire on the victim in Seigram, resulting in his death on the spot.

Police confirmed that the deceased was a former member of the local Peace Committee and was also associated with PML-N at the local level.

Soon after the incident, police reached the crime scene, shifted the body for legal formalities, and launched an investigation to trace the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing.

The incident has raised concerns over the law and order situation in the area, while local residents have demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the targeted killing.
