Foolproof security arrangements put in place in Murree during Muharram

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi stated that foolproof security arrangements have been put in place across the district during Muharram-ul-Haram to ensure law and order, promote religious harmony, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

He further stated that all concerned departments have been placed on high alert.

He said that extraordinary security measures have been implemented along the routes of majalis and processions across the district.

Personnel from the police, civil defence, Rescue 1122, and other relevant departments are performing duties, while

additional force has been deployed at sensitive locations.

He added that continuous monitoring of majalis and processions is being carried out through CCTV cameras, field teams, and a central control room to ensure immediate response to any emergency situation.

He further stated that for the convenience of mourners and citizens, special arrangements including sabeels (water stalls) have been set up and medical assistance will be provided along procession routes.

A diversion and alternative traffic management plan has also been implemented to maintain smooth traffic flow. Cleanliness, street lighting, and other municipal services are also being ensured.

The Deputy Commissioner said that maintaining a peaceful and conducive environment during Muharram remains the top priority of the district administration. He added that effective inter-departmental coordination has been established and a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to prevent any untoward incident.

He also appealed to citizens, religious scholars, and organizers of majalis and processions to fully cooperate with the administration and strictly adhere to the code of conduct so that the holy days of Muharram can be observed in a peaceful, secure, and respectful manner.
