Food authority destroyed 2,790 litres substandard juice, urged citizens vigilance

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Punjab Food Authority on Wednesday destroyed 2,790 litres of substandard juice and fined multiple dealers over Rs.100,000 in a crackdown aimed at curbing unsafe food sales.

The action was carried out in Ganjmandi, where food safety teams tested juice samples on the spot using modern equipment and found them unfit for consumption, prompting immediate disposal.

Officials said two dealers involved in supplying the substandard juice were penalised and warned of stricter action, including business closure, in case of repeated violations.

The authority said inspections would continue across the district, stressing zero tolerance for food adulteration and substandard products.

It urged citizens to report unsafe food practices on its helpline 1223 for prompt action, reaffirming that provision of safe and quality food remained a top priority.
