Food Authority conducts inspections of hospital canteens, bakeries in DI Khan

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) On the directives of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Halal Food Authority, Kashif Jilani, food safety teams continued inspections of hospital canteens, bakeries and various food outlets across the district to ensure the provision of safe and hygienic food to the public.

According to officials, inspection teams carried out detailed checks of canteens at different hospitals where cleanliness arrangements, safe food storage, water quality, kitchen hygiene, workers’ personal hygiene and medical certificates were thoroughly reviewed.

During the inspections, several improvement notices were issued over poor sanitation conditions, while the managements concerned were directed to strictly comply with food safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The teams also inspected bakeries and sweets production units, examining raw materials, cooking oil, expiry dates, production areas and overall cleanliness standards.

Authorities imposed fines on multiple units over violations of food safety SOPs, unhygienic conditions and the presence of substandard food items. Expired and poor-quality products found at certain locations were discarded on the spot.

Meanwhile, food business operators were instructed to ensure timely renewal of their licences, while several expired licences were renewed during the campaign.

Officials of the Food Authority said that inspections and enforcement actions would continue without interruption to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for consumers.
