BAHAWALNAGAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) At least five people were killed and more than 30 others injured in multiple traffic accidents across the district during the Eid holidays, rescue officials said on Sunday. The injured, including women, children, youth, and elderly persons, were shifted promptly to nearby hospitals, while authorities described the incidents as tragic and alarming.
According to rescue sources, the first accident occurred near Faqirwali on the Bahawalnagar–Fort Abbas Road, where a speeding car hit a motorcycle, killing 23-year-old Fazal and his two-year-old nephew Usman on the spot. Meanwhile, in another fatal incident on Manchanabad Road near Sunar Wali Road, a collision between a loader rickshaw and a motorcycle claimed the lives of two real brothers, Umar Farooq and Yousaf, residents of Chak Laleeka, while their third brother was critically injured.
In a third incident near Shehbazwala, a reckless vehicle ran over a pedestrian, killing him on the spot, furthermore highlighting the dangerous consequences of negligent driving. Rescue officials stated that all victims were either traveling or moving for Eid-related activities, making the incidents even more heartbreaking and unfortunate.
Officials emphasized that over-speeding and violation of traffic rules were the Primary causes behind these accidents, therefore urging citizens to drive carefully, follow regulations, and adopt safer practices. Consequently, authorities appealed to the public to remain vigilant to prevent further loss of precious lives during festive occasions.
