Five butchers arrested for overcharging meat prices in Timergara

LOWER DIR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) On the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Khan, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Zaid Safi on Thursday carried out an inspection of Timergara Bazaar and arrested five butchers for selling meat at prices higher than the officially notified rates.

According to officials, the action was taken as part of an ongoing campaign against profiteering and price manipulation in the district.

The arrested butchers included food King Beef Shop (Bypass Timergara), Zafar Qasab of Mian Banda, Sikandar Qasab, Charsadda Qasab of Mian Banda, Iftikhar Qasab of Gorgori Chowk Timergara, and Ikram Qasab of Mian Banda.

The administration reiterated that strict action would continue against traders involved in overcharging and violation of official price lists.

Officials warned that no leniency would be shown to those exploiting consumers, and further inspections would be conducted to ensure compliance with government-notified rates.
