Five arrested, one shop sealed

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) Five persons were arrested and one shop was sealed during an anti-profiteering campaign conducted here on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid said that during the last 24 hours, price control magistrates carried out 1,738 inspections in different parts of the district to ensure implementation of officially notified prices.

She said fines amounting to Rs187,500 were imposed on violators, while 589 warning notices were also issued.

The deputy commissioner said the crackdown was being conducted with the assistance of the PERA force and price control magistrates to ensure the availability of essential food items at fixed rates during Ramazan.

She warned that profiteering, hoarding and violation of notified prices would not be tolerated under any , adding that indiscriminate action against profiteers would continue without any concession.

The district administration urged citizens to purchase items according to the official price list and immediately report any overcharging or violations to the relevant authorities.
