COAS said Pakistan's army is recalibrating its operational and development strategies to address threats.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said Wednesday that the country’s armed forces are adapting their strategies to meet the changing nature of modern warfare while vowing to counter cross-border terrorism and attempts to destabilize the country.

Speaking to graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University in Islamabad, COAS said Pakistan’s army is recalibrating its operational and development strategies to address conventional, hybrid and sub-conventional threats.

He said the armed forces remain aware of what he described as state-sponsored attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to undermine Pakistan’s security and economic stability, adding that such efforts would not be allowed to succeed.

Munir also pledged that terrorism originating from across Pakistan’s borders would be defeated with the full strength of the state and said terrorist safe havens and their facilitators would be dismantled with the support of the nation.

Addressing the graduating officers, Munir stressed the importance of strategic clarity, institutional professionalism and leadership in responding to emerging security challenges.
He praised the National Defence University for preparing future military and civilian leaders to address increasingly complex threats.

He said wars are won through “faith, unity and discipline,” rather than media rhetoric or political slogans, and expressed confidence in the professionalism, morale and operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces.
