LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a suspect allegedly involved in hawala-hundi and illegal Currency exchange operations during a raid in Lahore,recovering Rs.285 million in cash,officials said on Saturday.
According to FIA spokesperson Lahore Zone,the operation was conducted by the Commercial Banking Circle Lahore on McLeod Road on the basis of intelligence reports regarding illegal currency dealings.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Asim Mehmood,the spokesperson said.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Officials said the suspect was taken into custody during a targeted raid over his alleged involvement in hawala-hundi and unauthorized currency exchange activities.
During the operation,FIA teams recovered Rs285 million in cash from the suspect’s possession along with mobile phones and other material believed to be linked to the illegal financial network.
The spokesperson added that a formal investigation has been launched to trace further links and identify other members of the network while follow-up action was underway.
