Federal Urdu University Signs MoU with ICCBS–University of Karachi

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST), Karachi, and the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic and research collaboration between the two institutions

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST), Karachi, and the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

Under the agreement, both institutions have agreed to collaborate in conducting research and recognize the importance of academic, research, and technological cooperation for engaging faculty members and researchers in the fields of science and technology.

The agreement was formally signed during a meeting held at the Federal Urdu University’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus in Karachi.

The MoU was signed by Prof Dr Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, and Prof Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, Vice Chancellor FUUAST, on behalf of their respective institutions. Senior officials from both institutions were also present at the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Raza Shah said that it was a significant moment that ICCBS, a well-reputed and highly productive research center of the University of Karachi, had entered into a mutual collaboration agreement with FUUAST.

He described the MoU as an opportunity for both institutions to conduct productive research and engage scholars and researchers in meaningful academic and scientific activities.

Prof Raza Shah further described ICCBS as one of the premier research establishments in the developing world, with a reputation that extends far beyond Pakistan’s borders.

He added that ICCBS has been designated as a Centre of Excellence by UNESCO, WHO, TWAS, and the OIC.

On the occasion, Prof Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said that FUUAST provides high-quality education to its students and expressed his desire to strengthen academic collaboration with ICCBS.

He added that the university aims to offer education in accordance with international standards and relevant national regulations.

According to the MoU, both institutions will provide opportunities for faculty members and researchers to participate in conferences, symposia, seminars, and workshops organized by either institution.

Joint seminars will also be arranged and hosted at the premises of FUUAST or ICCBS. The MoU will remain valid for a period of five years from the date of its commencement.
