Federal Ombudsman in Balochistan highlights media’s role in boosting public awareness

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) The Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman in Balochistan, Haji Ghulam Sarwar Brohi, has reiterated that the Ombudsman provides an effective and reliable platform for addressing complaints against government departments. He commended the media’s efforts in raising public awareness about this avenue for redress.

Speaking to the Bureau Chief of APP, Sarwar Brohi emphasized the pivotal role of the media in highlighting public concerns and acting as a bridge between citizens and state institutions. He noted that the media serves as the voice of the people, particularly the marginalized and underprivileged, ensuring their issues reach the highest authorities in a timely and effective manner.

Haji Ghulam Sarwar Brohi praised the media’s consistent role in disseminating the Ombudsman’s message across the country, including remote areas of Balochistan.

He stressed that the fundamental purpose of journalism is to highlight public issues and convey them promptly to relevant authorities, adding that responsible journalism is essential for transparency and good governance.

Reflecting on his tenure, Ghulam Sarwar Brohi Brohi shared that when he assumed charge of the Ombudsman’s Balochistan office, the number of complaints was limited.

However, due to increased public awareness, positive media engagement, and improved institutional performance, the office now receives thousands of complaints, which are processed on a priority basis.

He expressed satisfaction that the institution is providing timely and free-of-cost justice, further strengthening public trust in the ombudsman system.
