ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Tuesday attended the funeral prayers of Pakistan Railways employee, martyr Liaquat Ali at Police Lines Attock and paid glowing tribute to the deceased for his extraordinary bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.

The minister also met the bereaved family and expressed heartfelt condolence, assuring them of the government’s full support.

Speaking to the media on the occasion in Attock, Hanif Abbasi said that Liaqat Ali, a gang mate of Pakistan Railways, embraced martyrdom while displaying exceptional courage, presence of mind and devotion to duty near Mankor Chowki in Attock district, close to the Khushhal Garh Bridge on the Jand-Kohat Road.

Hanif Abbasi also announced that he had recommended the posthumous award of the “Sitara-e-Shujaat” for Liaquat Ali in recognition of his unmatched courage, patriotism and devotion with duty.

He said the railway employee successfully identified a suicide bomber in time, preventing a major tragedy and saving numerous precious lives.

“The sacrifice rendered in the fight against terrorism is a shining example of national courage and commitment. Such brave sons of the soil are the pride of the nation,” the minister said.

Hanif Abbasi said that as long as such courageous and selfless Pakistanis exist, no force can harm the country.

He said that Liaquat Ali’s bravery reminded him of Aitzaz Hasan, who also sacrificed his life while stopping a suicide attacker.

The minister announced that Pakistan Railways would provide Rs80 million in compensation to the martyr’s family.

He further said that the department would take complete responsibility for the education and healthcare of Liaquat Ali’s children.

He said the martyr’s sacrifice would continue to inspire future generations and reaffirmed that Pakistan Railways would always stand by the bereaved families.

The minister prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul to bear this irreparable loss with patience.
