Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Monday announced the observance of "Youm-e-Tashakur" (Day of Thanksgiving) to celebrate the success of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in facilitating a peace agreement between the United States and Iran

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Monday announced the observance of "Youm-e-Tashakur" (Day of Thanksgiving) to celebrate the success of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in facilitating a peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

Speaking to the media, the minister described Pakistan's mediation role as a historic diplomatic achievement that had brought pride to Pakistanis across the globe.

Pakistan's successful mediation had helped avert a major international conflict and contributed significantly to global peace and stability, he underscored.

"Pakistan's name will be written in golden words in history for its role in promoting peace through dialogue and diplomacy," he said, adding that the entire nation was proud of the country's efforts on the international stage.

The leader thanked all countries that supported Pakistan's mediation initiatives and appreciated their cooperation in achieving the reported breakthrough.

He credited the success of the peace efforts to the persistent and coordinated efforts of Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, and the country's military leadership.

He noted that at several stages there were concerns that the peace agreement might not materialize, but continuous diplomatic engagement and determination ultimately led to a successful outcome.

He said the agreement had now been announced and that a formal signing ceremony was scheduled to take place in Geneva on Friday, with Pakistan expected to host the event.

He said the international community was widely appreciating Pakistan's constructive role, adding that the country's efforts had not only helped prevent a potentially devastating conflict but had also safeguarded the interests of countries whose economies and trade heavily depend on the Strait of Hormuz.

"The closure of the Strait of Hormuz could have triggered a sharp increase in global prices of essential commodities, including petroleum products," he said, adding that Pakistan's peace efforts had contributed to preserving regional and global economic stability.

He described the development as a major victory for diplomacy and a testament to Pakistan's growing role in international conflict resolution.
