ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), has established a National Education-Hockey Coordination Committee to institutionalize hockey development within Pakistan's national education framework and revive structured hockey competitions across the country.
The committee, notified by IBCC, will be chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director, IBCC, with Ms. Sadia Naz, Deputy Director (Sports), IBCC, serving as Secretary, said a press release.
Members include directors and DPEs from BISE boards of Mardan, Larkana, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, and Mirpur/AJK, along with representatives from sports organizations.
It may be mentioned that, Mallah is also a member of the Ad Hoc Committee, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), strengthening collaboration between education and hockey governance.
The objectives of the committee include standardized Inter-Board Hockey Championships for U-14, U-16, and U-18 categories; Provincial board qualifiers leading to a National Inter-Board Championship; Annual Talent Identification & Scrutiny Camps; Creation of a Centralized National Student-Athlete Database and seamless transition of athletes from school to college, university, and national squads.
The committee will coordinate with the Pakistan Sports Board for infrastructure support and the Federal Directorate of Education for institutional facilitation to ensure effective implementation.
