ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Minister of State for Planning and Development Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani on Friday informed the National Assembly that the project Establishment of University of Applied Engineering and Emerging Technologies (UAEET), Sialkot remained active and has not been formally stopped.
Responding to questions during Question Hour, he clarified that the project was approved by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) in April 2021, followed by endorsement from the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in May 2021 and final approval by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in June 2021, at a total cost of Rs16,648.47 million.
He said the project is being implemented on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis between the Federal government and the government of Punjab, adding that the initial agreement envisaged that provincial investment would be completed first, followed by federal contribution.
The minister noted that the federal government had allocated Rs1,500 million for the project in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2021–22; however, the federal share was not released, and the project was not included in subsequent PSDPs.

Replying to a supplementary question, Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani appreciated the constructive approach of members and said coordination between the federal and provincial governments is essential for resolving funding issues and ensuring timely completion of development projects, including the Sialkot university initiative.
